New London VFD

The New London Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1959 under the sponsorship of the Lions Club and was incorporated in 1960.

The original Board of Directors included Emmett Loveall, J. W Baits, W.E. Harwood, C.K. McConnico, Cliff Hargis, Doug Stone and S.M. Riley.

Today the department's immediate service area includes approximately 100 businesses and residences with a 92 square mile area.

The department is currently under the leadership of Chief Curtis Riley, grandson of one of the founding members of the Department. We house 5 vehicles – pumpers and brush trucks and respond to structure fires, brush fires, vehicle accidents, public utility calls and mutual aid calls.

We currently have 21 members, many of whom are certified firefighters and meet the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of every month. The Department enjoys a close working relationship with the City of New London as well as with the many residents in the surrounding communities.

Please feel free to stop by and meet the many outstanding members of the department who serve the residents of Rusk County.
