Overton VFD

Faithfully serving our community since 1932!

The Overton Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1932. The department serves the City of Overton and NW Rusk County west of Hwy. 42, along FM 3053 to the Gregg County line, and the west side of 2089 to the Smith County line.

The department currently has 25 members and meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. The department houses 6 vehicles – pumper/engine, brush trucks, water tender and first responder truck. In addition to having certified fire fighters on call, we also have 9 certified medical first responders. The department responds to structure fires, grass fires, traffic accidents, public utility calls, public safety calls, and medical calls. In addition, we mutual aid with the New London Volunteer Fire Department, the Crims Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, the Arp Fire Department, and the Kilgore Fire Department.

The Department holds an annual Bucket Share fundraiser the 2nd Saturday in October in the city of Overton at Hwy 135 and Hwy 850 at the 4-way stop.
